The Mellah
A riad with colour in its bloodstream
The Mellah approaches the city’s riad tradition with a vivid contemporary eye. In the courtyard, black-and-white zellige meets a circular yellow sofa and an orange tree. It is a confident opening note for a house that brings art, colour and Moroccan craftsmanship into close conversation.
Created by Simohamed Azzouz, the interiors include ceramics by Bouchra Boudoua and photography by Mous Lamrabat. Rooms turn towards deeper palettes, while the rooftop pool opens the house back up to the surrounding neighbourhood.
The appeal is in that movement between moods: graphic and bright, intimate and richly coloured, then outward towards the city again. It belongs in this collection because it offers a distinct point of view on Marrakech, with contemporary creative work woven into the experience of staying there.
