Buck Mason Flatiron

The Porsche catches the eye. The vintage Moroccan rugs make us look a little longer.

The Porsche is an obvious reason to stop at Buck Mason in Flatiron, but the vintage Moroccan rugs are just as interesting to us. We like that combination: the precision of a car’s lines alongside the texture and irregularity of something handmade. It gives the store a character that reaches well beyond the clothes on the rails.

There is a pleasure in seeing older things used with confidence. The rugs bring warmth, the furniture gives you a reason to pause, and the Porsche sits among it all as another object to admire. For us, this is what makes a shop worth visiting in person. You can look at the clothes online; the feeling of the room, and the unexpected things you find yourself drawn to, are why we would go in.

170 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10010.
