We have a soft spot for a useful object that has been properly thought about. MoMA Design Store is somewhere to indulge that: the shape of a glass, an unexpected colour, a small piece of design that makes an ordinary task more enjoyable. We like being reminded that good design can fit on a kitchen shelf as easily as it can fill a room.
The SoHo store brings established designs and newer ideas into the same conversation, which makes browsing feel worthwhile even without a shopping list. Our interest is in the things we would actually want to live with, use or give to someone who would appreciate the detail. The best find is often modest in size, but manages to change how you feel about something you do every day.
